Nachdem Sigil gestern schon eine Fanseite in den Status der Affilliated Fanseiten gehoben hat folgt dieser nun die dritte deutschsprachige Fansite in diesen Rang. Wir beglückwünschen das Team von lost-company.de welche schon des öfteren durch ihre Übersetzungen aufgefallen sind :-)

Nicht nur das Vanguard wächst sondern auch das Team um Brad McQuaid. Nick Parkinson hat zur Moderation des offiziellen Forums Verstärkung durch Paul Luna alias Vladmiir bekommen. Nun werden beide gemeinsam das Forum (un-)sicherer machen.

Mit der letzten Ausgabe diesen Jahres zeigt sich Olnigg in einem rückblickenden Gewandt. Neben hauptsächlich heftigen Schlägen gegen World of Warcraft sowie EverQuest 2 bekommen es auch noch ein paar andere Spiele bzw. ihre Entwickler zu spüren, auch wenn sich mittlerweile wohl ein paar kleinere Dinge geändert haben. Doch zeigt sein Fazit eine wohl immer deutlich werdente Entwicklung auf dem MMORPG Sektor in jedem Teil der Welt.

Das Fazit oder auch die verfrühte Weihnachtsansprache Wenn ich normalerweise nichts auf Kalendersprüche gebe, aber an der Aussage mit dem "verflixten 7.Jahr" scheint mehr Substanz zu sein als bislang von mir vermutet. Denn noch nie war ich näher dran, meine Homepage temporär zu schließen, als in der letzten Zeit - in eben meinem 7.Jahr. Was sich da zurzeit auf dem Onlinemarkt tut, ist gelinde gesagt Besorgnis erregend. World of Warcraft breitet sich rasanter als ein Krebsgeschwür aus und die Konkurrenz kämpft verzweifelt um ihre langsam aber stetig schrumpfenden Marksegmente. Panik scheint das Wort der Stunde. Oder wie anders soll man die radikalen Konzeptänderungen nennen, die Sony Online Entertainment vor kurzem ihrem Star Wars Galaxies beschieden hat? Und in EverQuest II bekommt man neuerdings die Erfahrungspunkte hinterhergeworfen. Sei es als Jubiläumsbonus getarnt oder als ganz unverhüllte Vereinfachung im Bereich der Crafting-XP. Fortschritt und Aufstieg wird Allerortens einfacher - noch einfacher, als es schon war. Es wird alles leichter gemacht. Sehr leicht. Kinderleicht. Es ist nicht schwer, die Zeichen der Zeit zu deuten. Sie wollen denselben Umsatz wie Blizzard und deshalb werden ihre Produkte langsam aber stetig wie die von Blizzard. Wenn dieser Tage T-Online 20.000 WoW-Trial-Versionen verlost und Computer BILD Spiele noch viel größere Mengen unters Volk presst, dann stellt sich einem schon die Frage, wie es weitergehen soll? Nicht nur am Markt sondern auch hier auf meiner Homepage. Meine persönliche Hoffnung für das nächste Jahr ist derzeit einzig noch Vanguard, aber damit werde ich sicherlich keine 12 Ausgaben füllen können, und erwartet bitte nicht, dass ich von dem Schrott berichten werde, der ansonsten kurz vor der Fertigstellung steht.

Sigil Games Online hat eine neue Fansite in den gehobenen Status der affilliated Fansites erhoben. Das nun immer mehr Seiten in diese Bereich "vordringen" zeigt eindeutig das Potential und die starke Wachstumsrate der Vanguard - Saga of Heroes Community. Einmal mehr hat uns Sigil mit einem weiteren Teil der Schildträger Chroniken überrascht. Mittlerweile ist die Erzählung bei dem sechsten Teil angelangt und erzählt davon, dass der Sohn nicht länger auf eine Antwort des Vaters wartet sondern sich auf den Weg zu ihm macht.

Auf Stratics ist eine Menschenfrau und ein Goblin das Motiv ihrer beiden Bilder.

Erfreuliches hat sich in unseren Briefkasten eingeschlichen, eine Email von Nick Parkinson. Inhalt waren zwei schöne exklusive Screenshots. Auf dem ersten Bild ist eine Kriegerin zu sehen wie sie wohl auf Wanderschaft zu einem unbekannten Ziel ist. Das zweite Bild ist hingegen weit eindrucksvoller und zeigt einen Krieger mit erhobener Klinge. Vor ihm zwei angriffslustige Wölfe die es nun mitten im Wald zu erlegen gilt.

Sigil hat auf ihrer Website zu Vanguard Saga of Heroes nun den fünften Teil der Erzählung Die Chroniken des Schildträgers veröffentlicht. In diesem Teil geht es darum, das der Sohn erfährt, dass sein Vater alle Briefe von ihm erhalten hat jedoch auf keinen Antwortet und auch nicht mit sich reden lässt. Der Sohn erzählt von seinen Träumen und was er darin sieht, ebenso das er schon aufgeben wollte aber seine Verpfllichtungen ihn daran hinderten.

Einen etwas außergewöhnlichen Artikel hat TenTonHammer auf der Website veröffentlicht. Dieser Artikel befasst sich mit dem Administrator von Vanguard Stratics - Kheldon. In der Regel bleiben Administratoren im Hintergrund, organisieren und koordinieren aber hier ist das Gegenteil aufgetreten. Neben ein paar Informationen wie Kheldon zu Stratics gekommen ist und die Fansite aufgebaut hat, so erfährt man ebenso etwas über seine zukünftigen Pläne und etwas darüber wie eine Fansite administriert wird.

One of the most familiar names in the Vanguard Community is one that has been around since Vanguard was merely a twinkle in Brad McQuaid's eye. You might wonder indeed about the title and why I label this person as a boy wonder, but this comes from my first meeting with Kheldon. A relative newcomer to the Vanguard scene, I had seen Kheldon's name associated with Stratics since I became aware that Vanguard was a game and not a type of armored truck. Even when I was playing A Tale in the Desert, I had heard of Kheldon. However, I knew nothing about him. It wasn't until I arrived at Silky Venom, nearly a year later that I found, much to my surprise, the boy wonder himself as an advisor for the news staff of the fledgling fansite.

Vanguard TenTonHammer hat eine neue Serie von Artikeln / Interviews gestartet, welche insgesamt drei Menschen aus dem Team rund um Vanguard Saga of Heroes in das Licht stellen sollen. Begonnen mit der Community Managerin Cindy Bowens folgen Dave Gilbertson und Michelle Butler.

We're talking about Cindy Bowens, better known to many of the online gaming community at Vanguard: Saga of Heroes as Abigale Seashadow. And her boss is the Father of EverQuest, Brad McQuaid. Cindy's job at Sigil Games is much more complicated than I first thought. A lot of people have a hazy idea of what a Community Manager does. Cindy showed the first precept of doing a good job by having a clear idea of what her job is and being able to explain it to others: "I am basically the link between Sigil Games Online and the Community. So most of the email we get from the public goes to me. I get all the emails asking about our game, when Beta will start, job opportunities…everything you can think of. I try to answer as many as I can. But it is difficult to get to them all sometimes."

Laut Aussagen von Cindy Bowens im offiziellen Forum wurden nun alle registrierten Besucher des offiziellen Forums mit einer Betaanmelde Email beglückt. Nun folgen nur noch die, die saich erst nach dem 12. Oktober angemeldet haben.
